Therapy
Therapy & counselling
Four ways I work with clients - each shaped around what you need, at a pace that feels right.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a confidential, one-to-one space to think through whatever is weighing on you. People come for many reasons: a specific difficulty like anxiety or low mood, a difficult period of change, or simply because something feels off and they want a place to make sense of it.
Sessions are unhurried. There's no script - we'll start where you want to start, and what we focus on will shift as your needs do.
- What to expect
- A 50-minute session each week, in person in Edinburgh or online. Same time, same day where possible.
- Who it's for
- Adults of any age who would like a confidential space to think - whether or not you've had therapy before.
- How many sessions
- Some clients come for 6–8 sessions on a specific issue. Others stay longer. We'll review together every few weeks.
Couples Counselling
Couples counselling is a chance for both partners to be heard properly - often for the first time in a long while. My role is to hold a neutral, careful space where difficult conversations become possible.
We'll talk about communication patterns, recurring conflicts, life transitions, intimacy, trust - whatever is bringing tension into the relationship. The aim isn't to assign blame but to understand each other better.
- What to expect
- 60-minute sessions, usually fortnightly. Both partners attend together.
- Who it's for
- Couples at any stage - long-term partners, newer relationships, married or not. You don't need to be in crisis to come.
- How many sessions
- Most couples find 8–12 sessions helpful. Some continue for longer, some shorter.
Anxiety Support
Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, panic, sleeplessness, constant worry, or a low background hum that never quite leaves. Whatever form it takes for you, the experience is exhausting - and often lonelier than it needs to be.
We'll work in two directions at once: building practical tools that help you feel steadier day to day, and gently looking at what sits underneath the anxiety so it doesn't keep returning in the same shapes.
- What to expect
- Weekly 50-minute sessions, in person or online. We'll often agree small things to try between sessions.
- Who it's for
- Anyone struggling with anxiety, panic, overwhelm, or chronic worry - at any intensity.
- How many sessions
- Typically 10–16 sessions for significant relief, though this varies.
Online Sessions
Online sessions take place via a secure, confidential video platform. For many people they're the most practical option - you can join from home, from work, or from wherever feels private and comfortable.
Research suggests online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for most people. What matters most is the relationship, not the room.
- What to expect
- 50-minute video sessions at a regular weekly time. You'll receive a private link before each session.
- Who it's for
- Clients anywhere in the UK. Particularly helpful if travel, childcare, or your schedule makes in-person sessions difficult.
- How many sessions
- Same as in-person - guided by what you need.
