About Dr. Clara Voss

Integrative therapist. BACP Accredited. Based in Edinburgh.

Dr. Clara Voss

I came to therapy the way many of my clients do - at a moment when life felt heavier than I knew how to carry alone. The experience of being properly listened to, by someone who wasn't trying to fix me, changed what I thought was possible. It also led me, eventually, to this work.

I've spent the last decade in private practice supporting people through anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, burnout, and the quieter sense that something isn't quite right. My clients come from many walks of life - some have been to therapy before, many haven't.

I trained in integrative counselling psychology, which means I don't work to a single rigid model. Instead I draw from several traditions - person-centred therapy, CBT, and psychodynamic approaches - and we'll find together what's most useful for you. Some weeks we might focus on practical tools; other weeks we might simply talk.

I believe deeply in the relationship between therapist and client. Research consistently shows that the quality of that relationship matters more than any particular technique. So my first priority is always to make sure you feel heard, safe to be honest, and never rushed.

I practise from a quiet room in the Morningside area of Edinburgh, and offer online sessions to clients across the UK. Everything we discuss stays between us.

My approach

Unhurried, warm, and collaborative.

Our work begins with a conversation, not a questionnaire. I want to understand what's brought you here, what you're hoping for, and what kind of support feels right. There's no expectation that you'll have it all worked out before we begin - most people don't.

From there, we move at your pace. Some clients want a structured focus on a specific difficulty; others prefer a more open, reflective space. Both are entirely valid, and we can shift between them as your needs change.

I'll be honest with you, gentle with you, and consistent. That, more than anything, is what I hope you'll feel from our work together.
